My Witchy Morning Routine: 10 Minutes to Start the Workday with Magic

I have learned over the years that witchcraft doesn’t have to be all elaborate spells or perfectly timed moon rituals. Sometimes, it’s the little rituals that you weave into your everyday life that become the most impactful. For me, one of those is the small ritual I do at the start of my workday with a witchy morning routine. This simple practice helps me step into the right headspace for work. And by bringing a bit of magic into it, I get to set the tone for how my whole day will unfold.

Like many daily witchcraft practices, it all starts with a card pull. As I shuffle, I’m thinking about the day ahead. The things I need to get done, meetings I’m attending, or pressing deadlines. And I ask the cards the question. “What do I need to know about my day?” I reflect on whatever card I pull for a moment. I take a moment to consider the card and think about how its message applies to the day ahead. I have a card stand that sits right under my main monitor, so that I can be reminded throughout the day.

Once I’ve gotten guidance from the cards, I move on to supporting my focus in a more tangible way. Focus is something I struggle with, so I give my brain a magical boost with some focus intention oil. I have made my own in the past, but recently I have been loving the “ADHD as F*ck” intention oil from The Pleiadian Altar. I place three drops on my wrist, while saying “I am” mantras for each drop. The mantras change slightly each day depending on what I think I need or the card I pulled, but usually are along the lines of “I am focused” or “I am productive”. Because the blood runs close to the surface at the wrist, I’ve found that placing intention oil there helps circulate that energy throughout my whole self. As I rub my wrists together, I make sure I feel it moving into my mind and body.

The next part is probably my favorite. Every Monday morning, I take about five minutes to make a focus spell candle. Nothing really fancy, just a quick sigil carved into an orange candle and anointed with a focus oil. Every morning that week I take a moment to light the candle and a stick of incense. As I light the candle, I say this mantra out loud. “This fire is my focus.” I use that flame to light the incense, I say “This smoke is my protection.” This final incantation helps me seal in my intentions for the day and opens the door for a good work day.

From there, my day looks a lot like anyone else’s. I may sprinkle some other witchy bits throughout my day, like charging my water or scribbling a sigil onto the corner of a paper. But this small witchy morning routine is something I do almost every day. The whole thing takes no more than ten minutes every morning, and those ten minutes set the tone for my entire workday. Of course, my routine won’t be the perfect fit for everyone, but it’s exactly what I need to feel focused, grounded, and connected.

What about you? Do you have a small daily ritual that helps you step into your day with intention?
